Channel 7 will be screening the HBO TV series The Pacific in 2010. Executive-produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who previously teamed for the 2001 HBO miniseries Band of Brothers, the series is three years in the making and follows the stories of three U.S. Marines during America’s battle with the Japanese during the Second World War. The 10-part series was filmed in parts of rural Victoria, Melbourne and Queensland’s Port Douglas.

To celebrate this wonderful piece of television coming our way from the always exciting HBO, Text will be publishing the official companion book, The Pacific by Hugh Ambrose, in March 2010.

Hugh Ambrose is the son of Stephen E. Ambrose, author of the bestselling Band of Brothers. He served as a consultant on the filming of The Pacific, and he is Vice President of the National World War II Museum (USA).
