Capital by Kristin Otto recognised for production excellence

Every book we publish at Text is a work conceived with much love and there is always excitement when copies of a new title arrive in-house. We try to make every book a work of art but sometimes there are moments when we hold a new release and just think…yeah, we nailed this one! Kristin Otto’s Capital is one such example; a beautiful production that explores the city of Melbourne in the years between 1901 and 1927, when it was the capital of Australia. It was a great pleasure this week to hear that Capital has been nominated for an award in production excellence in the 2010 Galley Club awards.

Congratulations to Kristin for researching and writing such a wonderful book, and to Susan Miller, the designer who put this beautiful package together.

The e-book may be a publishing necessity but it moments like this reinforce that there is still much appreciation for the tactile beauty of the physical book.

The 2010 Award winner will announced on 6 August at the Harbour’s Edge Event Centre, Darling Harbour.
