Aye Write! shortlist

Three books published by Text and our Scottish cousins, Canongate Books, were on the shortlist for this year’s Aye Write Bank of Scotland Prize.

If like us, you are into all things Scottish, then check out the above great reads. You might also want to have a trawl through the full Canongate list, published in Australia by Text Publishing.

The £5,000 prize is open to any full-length novel, written in English by someone either born in Scotland or who has worked in Scotland for the 12 months prior to the award ceremony. It is awarded at the Aye Write Festival, Scotland’s newest and most exciting literary festival.

The inaugural prize in 2008 was won by another Canongate author, Dan Rhodes for his hilarious and heart-warming novel Gold.

This year’s winner, announced last weekend at the festival, was James Kelman, for his new novel Kieron Smith, Boy.
