2010 Prime Minister’s Literary Awards—Shortlists announced

Minister for the Arts Peter Garrett announced the four shortlists for the 2010 Prime Minister’s Literary Awards at Readings Carlton today.

The team at Text would like to extend a huge congratulations to two of our authors whose books made the lists.

Eva Hornung’s fabulous Dog Boy has been shortlisted in the fiction category. This is Dog Boy’s fourth shortlisting and a testament to the outstanding quality of the novel.

Fiction panel chair Professor Peter Pierce had this to say about the list: ‘The judges have recommended what they believe is an outstanding fiction shortlist.’ You can find the list in its entirety here.

Another multi-shortlisted book, The Water Dreamers by Michael Cathcart, has been recognised with a shortlisting in the non-fiction category. This history of Australia’s obsession with water continues to go from strength to strength.

Mr Brian Jones AO, Non-Fiction panel chair said, ‘The non-fiction shortlist is a powerful reminder that the book continues to occupy a key position in the maketplace of ideas.’ The full shortlist can be viewed here.

Congratulations to Eva and Michael.
