About the Author

Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton was a pioneer of Antarctic Exploration. He was a member of Scott’s first voyage south (1901-4), and led his first expedition on the Nimrod in 1907. By 1914, when the Endurance sailed for Antactica, Shackleton was a veteran explorer.
