Wake in Fright film night at Cinema Nova, VIC

Text Publishing and Cinema Nova present a series of classic films on the first Wednesday of each month.

Don’t miss the first, and arguably the best, outback horror film. Too shocking for audiences when it was first released in 1971, Wake In Fright disappeared, only to be re-released in 2009.

For more information and to buy tickets, visit www.cinemanova.com.au.

The panel for tonight’s discussion includes:

Alicia Sometimes (chair) is an Australian writer, poet and broadcaster on 3RRR’s Aural Text and is a fortnightly books presenter on ABC 774.

Mick Harvey is a Musician, Record Producer and Composer who has worked extensively in Australia and Europe for the last 35 years and is perhaps best known for his long term collaborative work with PJ Harvey and Nick Cave.

James Hewison is a film consultant across development through to acquisitions and distribution. He was formerly Executive Director of MIFF, CEO of the AFI & Head of Theatrical Distribution at Madman.

Sarah L'Estrange is a producer on Books and Arts Daily, ABC Radio National.

Jill Robb has had a long and distinguished career in Australian cinema. She produced the film of Careful, He Might Hear You.
