Text Publishing and Cinema Nova present a series of classic films on the first Wednesday of each month.

They’re a Weird Mob, starring Walter Chiari, Chips Rafferty and Clare Dunne, was an enormous hit on release in Australia, grossing $2 million at the box office.

Enjoy this charming and comic adaptation of Nino Culotta’s classic novel and the panel discussion afterward.

The discussion will be hosted by Tom Ryan, with panellists Petro Georgiou, Jake Wilson, Jacinta Tynan and Ana Kokkinos.

Tom Ryan has worked as a film critic since 1989. He has written widely for newspapers and specialist film magazines in Australia, the US and Europe and lectured on the subject in Australia and the UK.

Petro Georgiou is Vice- Chancellor’s Fellow at Monash and Melbourne Universities. He has been the Federal Member for Kooyong, and Director of the Institute for Multicultural Affairs.

Jake Wilson is a film reviewer for the Age and a freelance writer.

Jacinta Tynan is a news presenter on Sky News and a columnist with Sunday Life! John O'Grady is her great-uncle.

Ana Kokkinos is the Australian director of ‘Head On’, ‘The Book of Revelation’ and ‘Blessed’.
