Robyn Annear at the City Gallery (VIC)

Join curator Robyn Annear as she discusses the history of the McEwans celebrity pavement .

Between 1972 and 1994, scores of celebrities had their hand and footprints immortalised in cement at the entrance to the McEwans hardware store in Bourke Street. 'Gotcha!' presents 40 of the surviving prints from the McEwans pavement, together with stories of the celebrities who made them and newspaper images capturing the mood of the times.

Robyn Annear writes about Melbourne’s history. Her books include BearbrassA City Lost & Found (Whelan the Wrecker’s Melbourne), Adrift in Melbourne and Corners of Melbourne. In her podcast, Nothing on TV, Robyn presents stories from Trove historical newspapers. 'Gotcha!' is the fourth exhibition she has curated for the City Gallery, and her third with a one-word title.
