Interpreting History—The Written Word, Art, Film & Music

What inspires contemporary writers, historians, composers, and artists to re-tell and reinterpret history? The sagas of Ned Kelly, Burke and Wills, and Eureka or artefacts from across the globe have inspired varying historical conclusions, triggering debate and producing great works of art and storytelling.

Gathered for one very special event to discuss their interpretations of history are artists, writers and historians of international renown. Panellists include Stella Prize winning author Dr Clare Wright, “Ql elf” Molly Oldfield, musicians Shane Howard and Ash Davies and Yandruwandha man Aaron Paterson who has a unique connection to the Burke and Wills story.

The session will be chaired by broadcaster and author Derek Guille. This special event is proudly presented by Geelong Regional Library Corporation as part of the Word for Word National Non-Fiction Festival.
